What Comes Next
On a terrace in the shimmering gardens of the Hillwood estate in Washington, DC, a simple stone sundial adds a bit of wit. At first it seems to be a sculpture of a child’s sailboat, furled and afloat on a shallow pond. Then, magically, the eye recognizes the shapes and shadows of a sundial. Charming!
And now it is time to sail our mental clocks into fall. The prospect is invigorating. Lots of possibilities for culture and clothing.
In September, the musical Girl From the North Country, a showcase of Bob Dylan’s music, hops over from London to premier at The Public Theater in New York City. Or, in the other direction, London’s Design Museum features “Azzedine Alaia: The Couturier” through October 7, 2018. November sees the opening of “Andy Warhol--From A to B and Back Again,” a blockbuster retrospective at New York’s Whitney Museum of American Art.
The new season also offers an opportunity to recalibrate my wardrobe. What little addition will add zest to the basics? Each fall I try to find the thread, the new theme, to inspire me through to spring. Jane's Vanity is my guide. An exquisite item of lingerie or loungewear from JV is so inspiring. Fall is the perfect time to purchase a new bra. Something pretty yet sophisticated, to pair with a new chemise. Gilda & Pearl Gina Peony Lingerie Set features pink silk and gold lace with black accent. Nice with matching Silk Slip. A new coverup could double as a jacket. I’ll splash for the sultry Burgundy Velvet Robe from Cadolle. I already see it happening, the subtle transformation of my closet. Can't wait to add a new Zynni cashmere sweater and the latest Klements scarf.
Let Jane's Vanity point you in the right direction for a strikingly beautiful fall!
