Fashion Destination: SF
Book now for a dressy visit to San Francisco. From now through August 11, 2024, the city’s Legion of Honor Museum presents Fashioning San Francisco: A Century of Style. This exhibition features clothing from its permanent collection that tells the story of the SF women who wore these beautiful pieces. Fill a carry-all with your own small display of Jane's Vanity standouts, to assure a sparkling day on the bay.
Your flight (possibly from PDX) will be fueled by adrenaline. Take a window seat in your cozy Petrol Flared-Sleeves Velvet Dress from Stelios Koudounaris. Its high side slit will show off your new boots.
Carry your essentials in the stylish Sydney Natural Weekender Tote from Elisabeth Weinstock. They would include Layalina's Noor Aubergine Baby Doll for sleeping. And, for a hip dinner beforehand, leggings and the Black Big Collar shirt from Stelios.
Your exhibition day will take you almost to the ocean, where a crest in Lincoln Park houses the Legion of Honor Museum, a ¾ scale replica of the Palais de la Légion d’Honneur in Paris. The building was renovated and expanded in the 1990s. The original Court of Honor is now pierced by a miniature version of I. M. Pei’s Louvre Pyramid. Check it out as you make your own entrance in the Reindeer Zennor Dress from Klements. You’ll be protected from the elements by its extra-long sleeves and a sweeping shape that uses almost 16 feet of bias-cut silk. Love the photorealistic fur print.
Later, there’s just time for chowder at the Wharf before your trip home. As you fly north along the coast, you’ll feel smug about your compact JV wardrobe. And ready to let your mind wander through the day’s images. And your heart? You left it you-know-where.
